On our own behalf
Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl, President of Osnabrück University, will be presented to the electoral assembly of Münster University as the only candidate for the office of Rector of Münster University. On November 28, the electoral body will vote on the successor to the current Rector Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels. The term of office of the new Rectorate begins on October 1, 2026.

The protection of freedom of expression, artistic freedom, freedom of the press and academic freedom are among the fundamental and inalienable rights of our Basic Law. Osnabrück University (UOS) emphasizes the special responsibility associated with these fundamental rights in the opening article of its constitution: Osnabrück University "fulfils its tasks in freedom, within the framework of its self-administration and obligation towards human rights, the environment and the peaceful and civil development of humanity". This obligation applies to all areas of research and teaching - and to every member of our university.
